Release Notes: v1.1.0

New features to sign up for new account, log in, manage game systems, create new characters, manage friends lists, create new games, accept or decline game invites, and game chat features available including rolling.

Features

  1. Sign up for a new account

    • Simple email/password; it can be anything you want (even a fake email), but you should probably use a real email that you have access to in case you need to reset your password

    • If you need to reset your password, let me know and I can trigger the password reset process (we’ll build this into it later so you can do it yourself)

  2. Log into an existing account (if you’ve already made one)

  3. Log out using the arrow button to the left of the hammer button on the Games screen

  4. User profile/friends screen (blue hammer button on the Games screen)

    • Download the D&D rules system (this is necessary for some things to function within the app)

      • In the Manage Game Systems card, tap on Download D&D 5e (this may take up to 30 seconds, depending on your connection speed)

  5. Create a new character

    • In the Create Something New card, tap on Character

    • Enter a name and tap on Next

      • There's currently a bug where any edits you make after this point save on a NEW character, but you can get around this by exiting out from the rest of the character creation flow and then selecting the character from the Characters card

    • The Look button doesn’t do anything right now

    • You should be able to fill out info on the Bio section

    • You can tap on Character Sheet and then select the Create New option

      • You should be able to select a Race (and make any selections within that) and a Subrace (if applicable)

      • Other steps will be added soon

    • There currently isn’t a way to add a character to a game you’re part of (coming later)

    • Characters you’ve already made should appear in a Characters card under the Create Something New card, and you should be able to edit them from here

    • Manage friends list

      • Tap on Friends at the bottom of the screen

      • Incoming friend requests should appear at the top and current friends should appear below

      • You should be able to accept or decline a request

      • Tap on the search icon to go to the friend search screen

      • You should be able to search by name (the name that you set when you set up your account)

      • You should be able to send friend requests from here, see incoming requests (inbox icon on the right; tapping on this should open a dialog where you can accept or decline it), and see current friends

  6. Create a new game

    • From the Games screen, tap on the plus button to the right of the hammer button

    • Enter a name

    • Select a theme (this is basically just a color theme and doesn’t affect gameplay)

    • Add additional players

      • The Add Friends section at the bottom will populate with existing friends (it also appears to add users from pending friend invites, but I think that’s a bug)

      • You can add users to the list above and remove them from it (though you can’t remove yourself)

      • The add button in the Add Friends section currently doesn’t do anything

    • Select a Game Master

      • Drag the crown onto a player (or just tap on them), and then tap Next

    • You should be taken back to the Games screen and the new game should be added and you should be able to view the game chat by tapping on it

  7. Accept or decline a game invite

    • While on the Games screen, pending game invites should appear in a card at the bottom

    • Swiping from left to right should accept, and swiping from right to left should decline

    • If you accept the invite the game should appear in your list of games and you should be able to view the chat

    • If you decline the invite then it should just clear this card (we still need to add a mechanism to manage users in a chat after a game has been created)

  8. Game chat

  • You should be able to send a chat message

  • You should be able to start a dice roll

    • Tap on the dice icon on the right of the chat input (only shows if no text has been entered)

    • Enter a title next to the Roll For… heading at the top; the arrow next to the roll summary will be disabled until you've done this

    • You can select the number of dice, dice type, and specify if the roll is with advantage or disadvantage

      • You can long-press on each button to select directly or tap to open a description card

      • There's a bug with these buttons right now, so just long-press on them

    • You can use the "+" button at the bottom of the Dice card to add another die type; this can be used to build a "dice pool" of various dice types

    • You can add custom modifiers

    • Once you tap on the arrow near the top, a roll announcement card will appear in the chat

  • You can swipe on a roll announcement card for a roll that you have done (or other player's rolls if you are the GM) to do the roll or discard it

    • If you swipe to do the roll, you will be able to review your selections, hit the arrow to confirm, and then Quick Roll near the bottom to do the roll

    • A roll result card will appear in the chat

    • Discarding a roll announcement will remove it as well as the roll result it corresponds to
